Still Life
|
I could write pages about the influence of all the great still life artists, photographers and sculptors, about the Dutch Golden Age and those who write so eloquently about Dutch art. But still life begins with childhood, gazing at domestic objects, their forms and textures and at how light plays upon their volumes and surfaces. Some people call this objecthood.
I'm fortunate in having a studio where the morning light rakes in at a low angle in early spring and late autumn. I call these the silver and golden windows. Add to that a north facing window then domestic and found objects I have all I need for still life photography. Here are some examples from different series that I hope to publish sometime this year. |
