Školská 28 Gallery, Prague (2014)

As a guest artist at Školská 28 I presented Listening Environments, an exhibition for 6-channel sound, text and hand made instruments. The residency and exhibition were curated by Veronika Resslová.

Works:  Centre and Edge (The Bridge, The Maker, The Tree), Zenconcrète, Loom, Flither and Slipe, Stultifera Navis.

Listening Environments was the second presentation of my work in Prague. I explored the possibilities of socially shared listening as a stereophonic and quadraphonic sound installation created for the gallery. Visitors to the exhibition were invited to complete the gradually developing space of the installation with their own materials. My sound materials came mainly from a personal archive of field recordings from the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland.

I also organised a series of Soond Gaitherins, social events built around the sharing of field recordings, not unlike the slide shows people used to organise in the 'olden days' before digital technology.
