The Age o'Lanesomeness was a commissioned work of spoken Scots poetry for Push the Boat Out, Edinburgh's only dedicated poetry festival. Scots poet and writer Craig Aitcheson wrote the text, Taylor Dyson and Calum Kelly of Elfie Picket dramatised the poetry. My modest contribution was live sound for the performance. The work explores aspects of the Anthropocene, the Human-Altered World. As our point of departure we considered the words of E.O. Wilson:- …If we choose the path of destruction, the planet will continue to descend irreversibly into the Anthropocene Epoch, the biologically final age in which the planet exists almost exclusively by, for, and of ourselves. I prefer to call this option by another name, the Eremocene, the Age of Loneliness. |
