Jed Artwalks

As part of the Fallow Land residency I organised a series of four artwalks from January to April 2025. These were themed Land, Word, Light and Sound with the idea of exploring different art forms on the walks, They were very well attended, productive and most enjoyable. We walked, talked, looked, listened and then gathered in a church hall for tea, scones and home baking. All very cosy.

I should thank my neighbour Alan Dodds, who farms locally, for providing us with maps and information on what's going in the fields because nobody apart from farmers seem to know what's been planted. I certainly don't. The idea of a species rich meadow, a variety of grasses just left to get on without disturbance, or scrapes, land set aside at the edges of fields for the benefit birds and other wildlife, are all new to me. The maps helped greatly in informing our reflections on art in the environment more generally. I've put up a gallery of pictures from the four walks below.
