Fetlock Deep (2012) I said, Oh! Wind of Lammermoor, the night's too dark to ride, And all the men that fill the glen are ghosts of men that died! The floods are down In Bowmont Burn, the moss is fetlock-deep; Go back, wild Wind of Lammermoor, to Lauderdale - and sleep! from The Raiders by Will Ogilvie. Fetlock Deep was a multi-media artistic celebration of equestrian culture in the Scottish Borders. Initiated and funded by The Eastgate Theatre in Peebles, the project set out to engage with locals, visitors and various community groups on themes around the very strong equestrian culture in the Scottish Borders. In collaboration with Claire Pençak, Catriona Taylor and Caroline Adam, I contributed by carrying out a series of field recordings and recorded interviews around the general topic of equestrian culture, presenting these at equestrian and rural events and as part of a sound installation for the exhibition Diamonds and Hoof Oil at The Eastgate Theatre, Peebles in November 2012. Recordings were taken at working farms, equestrian centres, stables and sports events. |
